First Ace...
WooHoo...
Scored my first Ace last night at Green Caye Golf Course
..- 150yds, 9-Iron -..
Taken from http://golf.about.com/od/faqs/f/holeinoneodds.htm...
In 1999, Golf Digest reported, "One insurance company puts a PGA Tour pro's chances at 1 in 3,756 and an amateur's at 1 in 12,750."
Fun with the numbers...
Since I have kept pretty good records of most of the golf I've played, I get 1 in 6723. Those numbers are a bit skewed because I play most of my golf (little less than 2/3) at a par three course. If all my golf had been played on regulation courses and I got the ace after playing the same number of par 3 holes, it would have been 1 in 21,438.
The Joy...
The Eagle three was more joyful.
The Ace was more like, "Oh my God I got my first hole-in-one... I got my first hone-in-one... I GOT MY FIRST HOLE-IN-ONE!!!" And from there it was more a sense of relief that I have one under my belt.
Oh Happy Day... Oh Happy Day,
-Greg

Good for you! Did getting back two strokes give you a good score for the round?
To be honest Mike, I have been playing horrible since Ike rolled through. I played 36 holes and only on the last nine did I play well. I shot a 30 (+3) on the nine with the hole-in-one. That was a great improvement from the 39 (+12) I shot just prior.
The difference was that on that final nine I decided to play a draw on every shot. Prior to that I was all over the place.
So with the hole-in-one I shot two strokes below my normal average.
Hole in one? Great.
Congratulations Greg!
Thanks guys. Hope it's the first of many!
Hey that took no time at all. Congrats! I understand what you mean about a sense of relief. There is a lot of truth in that. I would much rather win a tournament, but people remember and comment on your hole-in-one. Can't wait to hear what happens when you approach that tee for the first time since the ace. My pitching wedge recently broke on my hole-in-one-hole. Proving the hole is truly a freaky one. Can't say either one of those things happen to many folks. I guess I'm just lucky!
CONGRATS! Glad you are enjoying the game! I like your site!
How are you? I just checked out your blog through Armchair golf. Very cool. Wondering if you ever heard of the World Series of Golf. Seems like you like to wager when you play. You might dig it. I work for WSG, my name is Joe. Check it out.

Congrats! I've heard different stats on the odds. Some have said it is 1/35,000 for an ace.
I have one ace, also with a 9 iron!
Welcome to the club.
does getting close to a h.i.o. reset the odds..hope not. Congrats!! The closest I got was an eagle.
Well, here goes. Time to meet the critics.
I like to think this video and those to follow will become all the rage (outrage might be more like it).
I'm sure some will get a kick out of it, some might get mad, some will howl with sarcasm. What I'd really like to see is a scientific test facility put it to the test.
I'd LOVE some feedback. And think about SUBSCRIBING. That way you'll receive updates as I put more of these up.

Congrats. I've never had one and I have no idea how many shots I've hit. Did hole out a six iron once on a par four for a deuce, but that' not a hole in one.
